About the Programme

The investment from Yorkshire Forward is being used to formalise the Charity Bank in the North programme, working with partners such as the Key Fund Yorkshire as well as international organisations such as the Nonprofit Enterprise and Self-sustainability Team (NESsT).

The programme aims to help creative and enterprising organisations adopt a more businesslike approach, become more outward-looking and develop and expand on good business ideas.

It’s the first time that an organisation has brought together support mechanisms, traditionally provided by support agencies, with a range of funding and finance options, under one roof.

The programme offers different levels of intervention, such as initial training sessions to demonstrate the benefit to organisations of developing their knowledge about the range of funding, finance and income generating options available. There will also be subject-specific training on issues like financial management, pricing, trading, and diversification.

Additionally, the programme provides a more intensive one-to-one support element.  This is geared towards addressing the specific needs of individual organisations that either a) have a current borrowing need or b) have identified that they are likely to need loan finance in the near future. Only a select number of organisations can be supported at this level.
