Kat Klehr – Assistant Company Secretary and Executive Assistant to CEO

Kat Klehr

Kat joined Charity Bank in November 2007 and since then has been working as the Chief Executive’s assistant and deputising for the joint Company Secretary. Kat’s background is in law and human rights and previously she has worked as a lawyer researcher at a Hungarian NGO advancing the rights of people with learning and psycho-social disabilities. Kat is passionate about social integration and currently explores the field of access to finance. She is also involved in the Pro Bono Centre at the BPP College of Law in London where she provides interpretation for the clients.

Gill Matthews – Assistant Management Accountant

Nora Bali – Credit Manger

Nora Bali

Nora has joined Charity Bank after working in commercial banking in the Middle East. She has a keen interest in contributing to social change and is currently supporting the Head of Credit in managing risks associated with the bank’s loan portfolio.
Nora is also passionate about microfinance and has visited Kenya to help micro entrepreneurs improve their businesses. She is also planning to spend a month in India conducting a social impact study for a rural MFI in West Bengal.

Yaa Kudom – Credit Manager

Yaa has a background in retail and wholesale banking. In her current role she provides support to the Credit Controller to manage the review, investigation and minimising of credit risks. She enjoys the diversity that each new application brings and in her spare time she volunteers her time at her local church crèche.

Steve Miles – Credit Manager

Steve Miles

Steve has enjoyed a long career in banking, in most recent years with Charity Bank. He is committed to helping improve people’s lives. Steve is a lifelong supporter of Margate Football Club.

Debbie Harmsworth – Head of Loans Administration

Debbie Harmsworth

Debbie joined Charity Bank after 23 years with a high street bank. A move to Kent prompted her decision to move outside of mainstream banking and she has not looked back on that decision, enjoying the satisfaction which comes from knowing the work she is doing is helping other people. In her spare time Debbie enjoys sailing and skiing.

Bob Dyke

Bob is a former career banker and part of the original team responsible for the launch of Charity Bank. He is still passionate about the sector and uses his extensive experience to help support newer members of the In House Team. Bob is heavily involved in his local community and jointly looks after the award winning gardens of the local Parish Church.

Philippa Steel – Deposits Administrator

Since 1979 Philippa has been employed in financial and customer services roles, ranging from city banks to international banking in HK.  On return to the UK in 1993 Philippa began a career in the charitable sector when she joined CAF working for CafCash which later became CAF Bank. After 13 years service Philippa joined Charity Bank in the role of Deposits Administrator in 2005.  Coming to work is a pleasure, says Philippa as I have the best of all worlds; enjoying the personal contact with clients, working with figures and knowing that Charity Bank is making a difference.

Peter Hughes – Regional Manager, Midlands and East of England

Peter Hughes

Prior to joining Charity Bank, Peter worked in the banking sector for over 28 years in a variety of roles, such as supporting organisations undertaking property development or regeneration projects. Peter says the best part of his role is meeting the people who make a difference. In his spare time he takes part in the sport of archery.

Carolyn Sims – Regional Director, London and South

Carolyn Sims

Carolyn previously worked in the City for a European Bank where she provided finance for affordable housing projects mainly. She is committed to supporting third sector organisations and the work that they do and consequently is a trustee of several charities. She spends any spare time she has, after looking after her husband and two young children, with her highland pony.

Roger Ong – Senior Manager, London and South

Roger Ong

Roger has been with Charity Bank from its inception. With strong beliefs in relationship management and continuous professional development. Is also a trustee of an educational charity (in complementary medicine) and a board member of a trade association for many years.

Jaishree Mistry – Lending Manager, London and South

Jaishree Mistry

Jaishree is a member of the London and South team. Having spent many years in commercial banking and with the Prince’s Trust Business Programme, Jaishree is passionate about seeing banking and enterprise used for the good of society.

Simon Thorrington – Regional Director, North

Simon Thorrington

Prior to joining Charity Bank, Simon had a career with a major high street bank, worked for a faith charity and established and chaired the board of a regeneration charity. Simon has a passion for the sector, and particularly values helping charities to realise their full potential, and to change the lives of their beneficiaries. With four grown up children he is now trying to get some ‘me time’ back to walk the hills of the north.

Paul Harrison – Senior Manager, North

Paul Harrison

Paul heads up the lending team in Yorkshire and Humber. Before joining Charity Bank, Paul worked at a number of high street banks, with responsibility for lending to housing associations and the public sector. He enjoys working with the many different organisations Charity Bank assists and finds their dedication and determination inspirational.  Outside work Paul is a keen tennis player but has given up hope of playing at Wimbledon.

Azlina Bulmer – Programme Manager

Azlina Bulmer

Azlina previously worked for several local authorities in North Yorkshire and has a keen interest in community and economic development. In her spare time, Azlina enjoys travelling and participating in all types of horticultural activities in particular gardening and vegetable growing.

Chapman Harrison – Regional Manager, South West

Chapman Harrison

Chapman has had a variety of roles in banking, and as Finance Director of a number of companies, and was formerly a Trustee of the Community Foundation for Wiltshire and Swindon. While there he chaired the Central Area Grants Committee, and is pleased he can continue to support groups that put something back into the community, in his current role. Chapman is a keen rugby supporter and recently cycled from Lands End to John O’Groats, raising £5,000 for his Community Foundation.

Ian Courtney

Ian’s task is to promote the Bank’s ethical role in the creation of a vibrant social capital market. Before taking up his appointment he worked in a public relations consultancy and prior to that in the telecommunications industry. Ian Courtney is an obsessive cricket fan and regular visitor to the Hay Festival, the annual arts festival labelled by Former US President Bill Clinton, “the Woodstock of the mind.”

Sara Main – Programme Manager, Wales

Sara Main

Sara coordinates the Cylch Investment Programme (CIP) to provide grant and loan support to organisations involved in recycling and reuse across Wales. Sara started her career in the environmental sector and after 20 years working in a variety of roles within the ‘third sector’, has enjoyed returning to the environmental field to oversee this innovative support programme. In her spare time Sara plays within a consistently unsuccessful but highly enthusiastic squash team.

Mark White – Welsh Funding Officer

Mark’s commenced his carrer by spending over two decades in banking and commercial finance. In more recent years he has been a business adviser and managed a fund providing seed capital to social enterprises. He is responsible for maintaining the flow of funds into the Welsh community recycling sector. He has a keen interest in cinema and the performing arts and sits on the boards of two Cardiff-based arts charities.

David Irving – Regional Co-ordinator, Scotland

After retiring from a career in banking, David started a second career lending to Scottish charities. The Loan fund merged into Charity Bank in the late ’90s. In his spare time David bowls.

Niamh Goggin – Regional Manager, Northern Ireland

Niamh Goggin

Niamh has worked in social finance in the UK, Ireland, Europe and Central America since 1994. She was the first Chair of the UK Community Development Finance Association and Secretary of the European Microfinance Network. She loves growing and cooking fruit and vegetables and stocks her fridge with jams, pickles, preserves and chutneys every autumn.
