The Pearce Institute
Location: Glasgow
Loan Amount: £30,000
Date: November 2010
The Pearce Institute provides space for community groups in Glasgow, in an A-listed heritage building. When a ceiling collapsed in 2001, the charity had to close the building. There was a danger it would have to be sold to pay off debts, but after restructuring its finances and getting help from the local council, the Institute used a loan of £60,000 to save the building and in 2010 used a £30,000 loan to keep the regeneration on track.
