Living Faith Temple: a community church

Saul Muchenje, church administrator and accountant, talks about the expansion of Living Faith Temple and why they chose Charity Bank for both its loan and savings needs.

“Living Faith Temple is a vibrant, non-denominational, multi-cultural church. It was founded by Pastor David in 2008 after a member of his congregation tragically lost their son in an accident. Upon visiting the family in Corby, Pastor David was struck by the need for a place of worship that would offer faith and support to the wider community there.

“He began Living Faith Temple with the help and devotion of 12 members of the local community. The church has grown and developed over the past decade and now has around 170 adult members that regularly attend and benefit from its support and services. In order to continue to expand this reach, we decided to purchase a dedicated space to worship and further engage with the community.

“With the help of a Charity Bank loan, we recently completed the purchase of on an old youth centre that has been out of use for some time. We plan to reawaken this community hub through renovations over the next 6 months, starting by building a nursery to offer affordable childcare to our members. Other plans include creating a cafe space where we can provide a welcoming environment for the elderly and others who suffer from isolation and loneliness; and working with local authorities to facilitate the meeting and wellbeing of parents going through separation and their children.

“We met with several lenders but liked the fact that Charity Bank works with other churches and charitable organisations and that their ethics are aligned with ours. High Street banks tend to have different values and financial goals that aren’t necessarily in the interest of charities.

“I really loved working with the team at Charity Bank and every single person we dealt with was simply perfect. Our main contact, Lisa Gilbert, was more than a lender, she was also a friend. She was so patient and explained everything we needed to do very clearly. It made the whole process so much easier.

“We were so happy with our experience with Charity Bank that we also decided to switch over our savings account.
